One year ago, Be Ready’s ragtag assault on the party scene began in earnest with FOOLPROOF at Brixton Dex. Sure, there were *many* parties prior, but this April Fools’ fandango marked our step out of the darkness and the genesis of Be Ready as a fully formed London collective. 

Since then we’ve tucked a wide array of achievements under our metaphorical belt…we’re proud to have been involved in so many great events, festivals and club nights and we have countless stories to tell!

Some months Ago now but have a look at the videos Around the Christmas Carnival that we did with ‘Till Deaf’.

The Be Ready Family and associates have pooled their varied and extensive talents together to produce a free compilation showcasing what we’re about and what we’re capable of. 

Coinciding with the hugely successful launch of ExtraCurricular @ The Cellar, Oxford this compilation is a buffet of beats, a delectable platter of Be Ready’s impressive and ever-expanding production abilities.

Unbelievably excited for our mates and family, originally from the South London crew formally known as We Are Dubist, who have recently set up a new and pretty inspiring record label, 92 Points. 

Their first release was out in August, and is the unbelieeeeevably catchy ‘Mr. 67’ by Boiler Room’s regular frontliner (the Mr. 67 himself) Visionist. His real name is Louis Carnell, and let alone being a sick MC he’s also making some pretty harsh beats of the 808 variety that are unsurprisingly being played out by the likes of Dark Sky and Oneman. Go and buy the limited edition vinyl release here. Its blatently worth it. 

But really want I meant to say was, BIG UP to 92 Points for their live-o 30 minute mix at the Boiler Room. You just need to download the mix or watch the video here to know that these guys aren’t just messing about. With this and their live radio show every Wednesday on NTS showing the label’s penchant for morphing together all the weird and wonderful sounds of modern 2step/garage, hiphop, acid house and 90s jungle its obvious that they’re pushing the boundaries of electronic music true South London stylee.

Just clocked this sick piece of advertisement! The legendary Reeps One who has been smashing aaaaallllll the festies this year is the guy to watch in the beatboxing scene. Not that we know much about it…but we know Reeps is endlessly creative with his sounds and audiences and a fucking nice guy to top it all. Big upppp!

Nice little flashback to the madness of the London riots, sampling the now infamous words of a Hackney resident shouting at yoots for “TEEFIN SHOES” when there are real wars to be fought. We like the creativity and the vibes from Levi Kage of the Chococast collective in Aberystwyth.

This Friday, in perhaps one of the biggest treats available to you in this warm weather experience, Be Ready are teaming up with OTT to bring you OTT PARTY’S SHUT UP AND SKANK w/ BE READY SOUNDSYSTEM

OTT are notorious for throwing parties as frequently as some of you clean ravers out there have hot showers, and in perhaps the greatest combo since two slices of bread were combined to make a sandwich, we have teamed up with them to provide a bass-filled night showcasing some of our best DJs and MCs with strictly GOOD VIBES in an easily accesible London location (see partyline below for details).

Thanks to my mate Theo who showed me the original Gabriel track by Hot Chip/2 Bear’s Joe Goddard a few weeks ago in a hazy session some time well into the AM. Chilling and powerful vocals by Valentina that have a definite pious feel, making me feel almost God-fearing for the first time since I was a child. 

But it has to be said the Dub version is much more up my street with the building 4x4 vibes much more suited to some late night madness and my favourite part of the vocals cut up and thrown in.

BUT THEN I came across the selection of remixes released this month, of which my favourite is by far this rework by Seiji, who just got me even more pumped up about the original track (I love how remixes can do that) with the cas’ little glitchy samples of the vocals and the maintenance of the “GABRIEEEELLLLL”, plus a groovy little breakdown in the middle to boot. Need. To. Hear. In. A. Club.
